Radio Shack robber injured while fleeing

PASADENA, TX Just before 1pm Thursday, Pasadena police received a report of an aggravated robbery in progress at the Radio Shack on Southmore. As officers closed in, the suspect fled the store, but not before witnesses got a description of him for cops to broadcast over the police radio.

Within minutes, an on duty uniformed officer in a marked unit spotted a man who matched the description of the suspect driving a maroon extended cab late model Dodge pickup truck. The suspect was traveling northbound on Main at Highway 225. The officer followed the vehicle on Hwy. 225 to 610 North as additional information was gathered from the dispatcher.

The suspect vehicle suddenly crossed multiple lanes of traffic and exited 610 at the Clinton Drive exit, apparently trying to lose the officer. The suspect fled briefly, driving against oncoming traffic. The driver abandoned the vehicle on the Manchester exit ramp at 610, then jumped approximately 20 feet from the ramp to the ground below.

The suspect, a 34-year-old black male armed with a semi-automatic handgun, was injured in his fall and was taken into custody without further incident. He is believed to have a broken arm and nose. He received medical treatment.

Aggravated robbery charges are pending. The suspect remains in custody.

Suspect had stolen several hundred dollars and several electronic components. All of these items were recovered.
