Rap star gets 3 years for nightclub fight

DECATUR, GA She has been sentenced to three years behind bars for a dustup at a nightclub near Atlanta last fall. She had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in DeKalb County in the incident which took place during a private Halloween party.

She struck a hostess upside the head with a rum bottle after the two got into a squabble over bumping into each other. The woman, who was an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader at the time, got a deep cut on the cheek, a swollen forehead and a permanent scar on her face as a result of the bottle bashing.

Da Brat is 34. In addition to her three years in prison, she gets seven years probation, plus 200 hours of community service. She also has to complete substance abuse treatment, a mental evaluation and anger management classes.

Da Brat burst onto the hip-hop scene under the training of Jermaine Dupri, who before becoming Janet Jackson's main squeeze had launched So So Def Records. Da Brat's hits include "Funkdafied." The Chicago native also has appeared on reality shows such as "Celebrity Fit Club" and "The Surreal Life."
