A Pasadena man charged with murdering his stepdaughter will undergo a mental health evaluation. James Quick is accused of shooting and killing Michelle Melton, 35. She was found dead in the driveway of his home on Friday. Melton's husband says Quick and Melton's mother were going through a divorce and that Quick got angry when he learned Melton was overseeing her mother's estate.

Charles Melton claims Quick locked them inside the home and got his gun.

"She jumped out the front window and was trying to get away and she would have made it, but her mom was laying in the bushes and she wouldn't leave her there," said Charles Melton, the victim's husband. "She went back and got her mom and he killed her there."

Michelle Melton leaves behind two children. As for her stepfather, on Monday, a judge raised his bond from $50,000 to $70,000 and ordered that he undergo a 21-day psychological evaluation.
