Thieves hitting cars at Webster hospital

WEBSTER, TX Police say the thefts have happened five times since the beginning of the month. They add that the thieves have also targeted an apartment complex. The vehicles involved are Toyota sport utility vehicles.

"They're very good. They're very fast," said Chief Ray Smiley with the Webster Police Department. "That night in the apartment complex, of course, they're fairly well concealed, and then if you drive though either of the big hospital parking lots, you know that you can spend a few minutes between the cars there and you're not going to be bothered either."

Police believe the thieves are selling the catalytic converters at car scrap yards in the area.
