Comets heading out of Houston?

The Houston Comets are for sale. And the team that won the WNBA's first four titles is in danger of leaving town. Spokesmen for both Mayor Bill White and county Judge Ed Emmett told Eyewitness News that the judge and mayor had a meeting with WNBA President Donna Orender back on July 23, during which they were asked to help solicit new owners for the team.

Local businessman Hilton Koch bought the team from Rockets Owner Les Alexander in January 2007, but the team is currently being operated by the WNBA.

Judge Emmett and Mayor White are working on a letter that will be sent to potential owners, but if local ownership isn't found, the team could be moved.
