Man shot, killed during home invasion

August 3, 2008 4:24:31 AM PDT
A home invasion turned deadly during a struggle between a suspect and a resident in north Harris County. Investigators say the incident began with a tap on the window around 9pm on Wellington Bend near Imperial Valley. The residents checked it out and then went back to bed.

Moments later, the front door was kicked in and two suspects entered. A man was shot and died on the scene.

Police said the suspects demanded money before they left. The victim was the manager of the mobile home community where he lived.

"We don't know why he was targeted, whether it was because he was in fact the manger or why," said Sgt. Bryan Pair with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "But at this point we're hoping someone will come forward and give us some information regarding this crime."

The female resident wasn't injured. If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers or the homicide division at the sheriff's office.
