Redding gives back to GPISD

GALENA PARK, TX Redding, in town for his 3D (Desire, Discipline, Dedication) football camp, donated $3,600 to the Foundation to become a sustaining partner.

The Education Foundation, formed in 1998, provides scholarships to graduating seniors and innovative teaching grants for teachers. The Foundation has provided more than $425,000 in teaching grants during that time and has raised more than $1.5 million. Those funds have been used to support Project Graduation activities at both Galena Park High School and North Shore Senior High School as well as the GPISD FFA Program.

Redding was named the USA Today Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and was also named to the All-American and All-State teams. After leaving North Shore Redding enjoyed a successful career as a four-year starter on the defensive line at the University of Texas. He was named to All-Big XII and All-American teams and was then selected by the Detroit Lions in the 2003 NFL Draft. He has started at defensive end for the Lions the past five seasons.
