Worker killed while picking up trash

HOUSTON Shortly before 8:30am, emergency crews were called to the scene of a wreck along the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway near Edgebrook. A TxDOT worker had been picking up trash when an Impala swerved to missed a box in the road and hit a Dodge pickup. Both vehicles spun out and hit the worker, killing him.

There's no word on whether anyone will receive a citation for the accident. The victim's name has not been released.
