Off-duty deputy foils robbery in progress

An off-duty deputy went to the drugstore and ended up in a shootout overnight.A suspect was holding a security guard and customers up at gunpoint at a CVS on Gessner near Beechnut in southwest Houston. The Fort Bend County deputy walked in on the robbery in progress.

The deputy pulled his gun and the suspect fled. The deputy chased him and both men opened fire. No one was hit and the suspect escaped.

No one inside the store was injured.
