West Houston fire goes four alarms

HOUSTON The fire started around 2:45am at the Cornelius Nursery on South Voss near Chevy Chase. Heavy flames were seen shooting out of the back of the building before a transformer blew and caused an explosion.

Greenhouse plants, chemicals, and insecticides fueled the fire throughout the morning. Concern for some nearby apartments prompted fire officials to close South Voss in both directions.
