Kids in stolen truck found safe

HOUSTON Maria Calderon was on her way to her sister-in-law's house to drop off her children when she stopped at a Valero station on West Airport and Fondren to put air in her tires. That's when someone shoved her out of the way and took her truck.

Her two sons, Kevin and Angel Mata, ages 2 and 3, were still in the truck. The suspect then dropped the children off at a church several miles away.

"I don't care about the truck, but my babies are my life," cried an emotional Calderon when she was reunited with her children.

The children had been at the church for about 30 minutes before a person walking by saw the boys and called police. The children were both checked out by paramedics and are doing fine. They told their parents nothing happened to them. The suspects and the pickup have not been found.

"They need to find that guy," said Calderon. "If it's tomorrow or another day and I go to the store or whatever, I'm scared."

The truck that was stolen is a 2001 black Ford F-150 with license plate number 89C-RK6. If you see the vehicle, you're asked to call Houston police.
