Police shoot, kill man following chase

HOUSTON It happened around 1am at Dabney near Hickman. Officers were talking to the woman who reported the incident, when her boyfriend drove by. She said he had been threatening and abusing her.

Officers then chased him until he crashed through a barricade and went into the bayou. An officer told the suspect to drop his weapon, but police say that didn't happen.

"Fearing for his life, the officer fired striking the suspect. And the suspect is here today deceased," said Bruce Williams with the Houston Police Department.

The man died on the scene.
