Student hospitalized after falling in pool

HOUSTON It happened Thursday morning at around 10:20am. The third grade student, who is hearing impaired, was reportedly sitting on the side of the pool outside the water, splashing her hands in the pool. A staff member says that's when the student slumped or fell into the pool. That staff member immediately called for help and joined with another staff member to pull the child from the water.

Staff members say the student was under the water for less than a minute. They performed CPR on her and the student was transported to Texas Children's Hospital. At this point, we don't know her condition.

According to HISD, the student has a history of seizures and blackouts.
