Looking for something fresh and fun this summer? Wax up and hit the waves!Kids with a love of the sun and surf are flocking to the Billabong Surf Camps, presented by Ohana Surf and Skate. The camps, which run throughout the summer, are taught Tuesdays - Thursdays, from 9am to noon, at 28th Street along the Seawall in Galveston. Can't make it during the week? Two-day camps are taught on Saturdays and Sundays, as well.

Students age 6 to 17 are hitting the boards and catching waves. Professional instructors hit the water to assure even the most inexperienced surfers will have a successful ride, in a safe, secure atmosphere. The young men and women share their enthusiasm for the sport of surfing and love for the ocean.

Visiting speakers enhance the surf camp experience with hands-on demonstrations of local marine life, and a fun-filled explanation of the science behind waves themselves.

In 2007, Ohana produced 19 surf camps with over 500 students successfully completing the program. Smiling faces and return campers attest to the popularity of the program.
