School official off the job

HOUSTON The judge sentenced Alief ISD trustee Edgar Dansby to a $1,000 fine and removed him from his position as a trustee over an abuse of office charge. He has previous theft and prostitution convictions and lied about having a college degree.

"We feel that school board members need to be good role models for students and that's one of the reasons we felt that he needed to be off this board," said Sarah Winkler who is an Alief ISD Trustee.

Winkler says the district should run background checks on trustees.
