Boy, 8, accidentally shot by friend

MONTGOMERY, TX Early this morning, Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies were called to a house in the 2100 block of Stillwater. According to deputies, an eight-year-old boy visiting the home had been accidentally shot by his 15-year--old friend. The victim was shot with a .22 cal pistol through the arm and into the abdomen. The child was taken by Life Flight to Herman Memorial Hospital, where he has been listed in critical condition.

Investigators have learned that the victim frequently visits the home and that the two boys are very close friends. The mother of the 15-year-old was home, but was asleep in her room.

Investigators believe that while the boys were examining the handgun, the weapon accidentally went off, striking the eight-year-old victim.

No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation. All facts will be forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney's office for review when completed.
