Comets' home opener sold out

HOUSTON Reliant Arena's seating capacity is 7,261.

The Comets' home opener is "First Fan Night" and includes an unveiling of the team's four WNBA championship banners, and the retired jerseys of two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player Cynthia Cooper and the late Kim Perrot, whose jersey is the first-ever retired by the league.

WNBA president Donna Orender is scheduled to attend the game and, during a halftime presentation, honor the first fans to enter the arena that night. Other Comets theme nights include the June 3 "Sea of Red -- Health and Fitness Night," which is the first of a three-game series against the San Antonio Silver Stars. June 14 is "Dads and Daughters Night" and features the return of former Comet and WNBA All-Star Sheryl Swoopes and the Seattle Storm. Both games have a 7:30pm tipoff.

In December 2007, the Houston Comets announced the team would play at Reliant beginning with the 2008 WNBA season.
