Family makes plea to help find a killer

HOUSTON Police are hoping you can help them catch Horacio Luna's killer before he strikes again. Luna was shot to death last month, while walking near a busy west side intersection.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of whoever killed him. Police released a sketch of a man who several witnesses have placed at the scene of multiple crimes on the same day Luna was shot.

The man is believed to be one of several men who were in a stolen black SUV that pulled up to Luna and some friends, who were walking along Westview back on Sunday, April 27 around 5:15am.

The friends were able to run away, but the suspect ordered the father of two to get on the ground and that's when they say he shot Luna.

Police say there seems to be no motive for the shooting. They didn't steal anything from Luna and he complied with the suspect's demands.

"The violent nature of these people, they don't care if you comply or not," said Sgt. John McGalin with the Houston Police Department. "In certain cases, they pistol-whipped people and in this case, they shot and killed an individual who didn't offer any resistance."

"If anybody knows any information, please, I have two girls with him and the people who did this they deserve -- I just want it for my girls," said the victim's wife, Erica Cuevas.

Police say whoever was in the black stolen SUV is also being connected to eight aggravated robberies. All of these incidents happened on the same day and in a three-hour time period, including the shooting death of Luna.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
