HISD officer hurt after flipping squad car

HOUSTON The officer lost control while travelling southbound on the West Loop near Memorial. He hit a wall and flipped the car, which slid about 30 feet. The officer was walking and conscious after the wreck.

Houston police are not yet sure what caused the crash.

"There is possibly another vehicle involved, but it is under investigation right now," said Sgt. Steven Sorge with the Houston Police Department.

The HISD officer suffered abrasions to his head and was taken to the hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. The accident kept the southbound loop traffic down to one lane for about an hour.
