Deal reached in deadly officer shooting

The city of Houston reached a deal with the family of a boy killed by a police officer. According to the Houston Chronicle, the city will pay his family $1.5 million and will erect a plaque in honor of Eli Escobar. The city has also agreed to change gun handling training for officers.

A jury convicted Officer Arthur Carbonneau of criminally negligent homicide for the 2003 shooting. He had said his pistol accidentally fired while trying to handcuff Escobar.
