Local teens give hair for good cause

HOUSTON Cosmetology students at Dobie High School cut the hair off of more than 20 Miller Intermediate School students, their families and community members.

The cuts are part of the sixth annual Locks of Love project. The Locks of Love Foundation provides high quality hairpieces to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

"I have a friend that just recently was diagnosed with cancer and so I wanted to do something, you know, that would help people with those problems," said donor Yesenia Vasquez. "And well, if it's gonna help somebody else more than I, then it helps me and I'm glad to cut it."

The donated hair must be 10 inches or longer. One third grader had never cut her hair until Wednesday
