The city of Houston today celebrated receiving the title of most accessible US city for people with disabilities. The National Organization on Disabilities presented Mayor Bill White with a $25,000 check to go along with being named most accessible city for the disabled.

The Houston-based organization called Independent Living Research Utilization provides assistance, along with the Americans with Disabilities Act. That group says Houston has made great progress in providing access for the disabled.
