Taxpayers to foot bill for deleted emails

April 26, 2008 6:30:56 AM PDT
Harris County taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the sheriff's deletion of hundreds of thousands of emails. The sheriff decided not to appeal a judge's decision that the emails should be made public. The lawsuit was filed by 13 Undercover reporter Wayne Dolcefino just days after the mass deletion of government records.

The tab for taxpayers comes to more than $30,000.

The emails have to be restored and provided for inspection by Channel 13 for our continuing investigation of the sheriff's office.
