Tip call leads to speedy arrest

HOUSTON Marvin Medrano was on local television this morning as the Crime Stoppers April initiative featured sexual predator. His photo was highlighted on the Crime Stoppers web site by 10 a.m. At 2:15 this afternoon, Crime Stoppers received a tip that Medrano was at work in private security in The Woodlands.

The tip was passed to agents of the HPD Auto Theft Task Force, who investigate auto thefts and run warrants on fugitives. Once Medrano's location was confirmed, he was in custody at 3:00 p.m. and on his way to the city lockup.

Marvin Medrano was wanted for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in an apartment in the 10,000 block of Richmond on or about August 28, 2007. The warrant for his arrest was issued October 19, 2007, with No Bond.

Crime Stoppers offers up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and charging of any felony suspect or felony fugitive such as child predators. Callers are urged to call 713-222-TIPS with any information. All callers remain anonymous.
