Rockford skates to 2-1 win over Aeros

A goal late in the third period lifted Rockford to a 2-1 win over the Aeros and a 2-1 series lead in their West Division semifinal matchup Tuesday night at Toyota Center. The IceHogs scored the final two goals of the game after Houston jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Marco Rosa's slapshot found the net in the opening period. Rockford responded with goals by Kris Versteeg in the first period Derek Nesbitt in the final frame.

Rockford outshot the Aeros 34-16 in the contest and took a 2-1 lead in the series that will stay in Houston for Game 4 on Thursday and Game 5 on Friday.

Neither team has been able to tally a power play goal through the first three games of the series with the IceHogs going 0-10 and Houston finishing 0-11.
