Tuberculosis in two school districts

Two area school districts are dealing with tuberculosis infections. Galena Park ISD says a Galena Park high school student contracted TB and is at home receiving treatment. The Harris County Health Department will begin TB testing on 300 students from the school next month.

"I was told that the type that he had wasn't the serious type," said student Monica Valencia. "It was the type that can be treated with antibiotics so if I do have it, I'm not that worried about it."

Meantime, North Forest ISD told us a woman who works in the district's central administration building contracted TB a few weeks ago. The county health department tested district workers this week but the tests results have not been released.
