A Houston native, who is now a student athlete in South Dakota, was attacked over the weekend. Ike Muoneke, 20, says while he was out with teammates early Sunday morning, he was attacked by a family of four who were screaming racial slurs. A 49-year-old father, his two sons and his son-in-law allegedly jumped and beat Muoneke as he left a bar about 4am.

When his teammates tried to break it up, they were chastised for helping their teammate and also attacked.

Ike was treated for a broken nose and abrasions. It's also important to note that Muoneke was cited for underage drinking.

As for the attackers, the father and his 21-year-old son were arrested and charged with simple assault, which is a misdemeanor.

The Muoneke family says charges should be upgraded to felony hate crime. Police say more arrests could come.

Muoneke is the younger brother of Gabe Muoneke, a former University of Texas basketball player. He was also in Rockets camp last summer.
