Pilot critical after hard landing

HARDIN COUNTY, TX The pilot was the only person on board the plane that went down in a field seven miles west of Sour Lake this morning. The occupant, identified as Robert Skinner of Magnolia, managed to call the Hardin County Sheriff's Department to let them know that the plane had gone down.

Skinner was reportedly alert and conscious when he was pulled from the plane. He was taken via medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. As of 3pm, Skinner was listed in critical condition.

The plane was en route from Hooks Airport to Hattisburg, Mississippi. The FAA is investigating.
