University of Houston pitcher Angel Shamblin pitched a perfect game in the Cougars' 9-0 win on Saturday at Cougar Softball Stadium over the Memphis Tigers. The perfect game was the second of Shamblin's career and the first in Conference USA this season. Houston went on to win the second game of the double-header, 7-1, behind four Cougar home runs.

Shamblin (17-2) struck out nine batters in the Game 1 victory.

No. 11 Houston (30-4) improved to 8-0 in Conference USA. They move to 6-2 all-time against Memphis. The eight-game win streak in conference play is a program record.

The Cougars will be back on the field Sunday to close out the series at noon at Cougar Softball Stadium. Houston will be looking for its first ever 9-0 start and third straight series sweep in conference play.
