Texans sign free agent LB Thompson

HOUSTON Thompson (6-2, 255) has played in every game in his NFL career (80), making 30 starts. He was selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2003 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. Thompson has tallied 130 career tackles and 10.5 sacks. He has also contributed 26 career special teams tackles.

Thompson, a native of Mount Pleasant, Texas, was a three-year starter at West Texas A&M and recorded at least 100 tackles his last three seasons.

Thompson is the fourth unrestricted free agent to sign with the team. Houston has signed CB Jacques Reeves, LB Kevin Bentley and RB Chris Brown earlier this month. Houston re-signed TE Mark Bruener, WR André Davis and SS Glenn Earl thus far in free agency.
