Chemical spills at facility in Deer Park

March 12, 2008 9:05:31 AM PDT
Crews spent the overnight hours cleaning a chemical spill at a Deer Park plant. Around 11pm, several hundred gallons of the gasoline additive known as MTB leaked at the Vopak Terminal on Battleground Road.

A plant manager tells Eyewitness News the chemical is not toxic to breathe and there was never any danger to the community. An internal clean-up crew is cleaning up the spill. It is said to be contained to the facility.

The all-clear was given about 3:35am. No workers were injured.
