Boys killed in mobile home fire

HOUSTON The fire took the lives of a boy, age 6, and his brother, 9.

Another brother and the children's mother were hurt, and they were taken to the hospital. Fire investigators spent most of the day at the home on Luthe near Aldine Mail, gathering information.

When firefighters arrived they found a mother and her son, age 11, outside the burning home screaming for help because there were still two brothers inside. Despite the efforts of many, no one was able to save them.

Firefighters arrived and found the mobile home engulfed in flames. Investigators say the fire was out within five minutes, but there was heavy toll left behind.

"Two people were transported by ambulance to Hermann Hospital," said Bryan Holmes of the Harris County Fire Marshal Office Inspector. "I'm unaware at this time of their injuries."

A mother and son were injured and two others children were found dead in their bedrooms.

Harris County arson investigators are looking what sparked the tragedy while neighbors are trying to understand how a woman could lose so much at once.

The mother and her 11-year-old son were both transported to the hospital. The mother has second-degree burns and her son is expected to recover.
