Softball opens in Missouri City

The Missouri City Girls Softball Association holds its Opening Day celebration at Sta-Mo Park on Saturday at 11am.The league plays its games at 1917 Moore Road in Missouri City. Mayor Allen Owen is expected to throw the first pitch and Amy Rodriguez, who sings the national anthem for Houston Dynamo home games, will sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at Saturday's event.

The Missouri City Police Officers Association, which has sponsored one of the four teams in the league, will present a donation to the league. A parade will start at Community Park at 10am and end at the softball fields, where Opening Day festivities will follow.
