Inmate slips out of police custody

HOUSTON According to Houston police, a group of prisoners were being transported from the central jail facility to the county jail facility. When they arrived at the inmate processing center, guards called out one prisoner's name and he did not answer.

Other prisoners said that the inmate got loose from the chains and walked away.

The prisoner's name is Luis Hernandez, 17. He had been arrested on a narcotics charge. He was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt with a white shirt underneath, with gray slacks and white shoes.

A police investigation is underway.
