Man found dead inside burned home

HOUSTON Investigators have identified the victim as 50-year-old William McMillian. Neighbors say he worked as a delivery driver and both neighbors and co-workers are very concerned over what happened at his home on Felgate Creek near Crakston.

"It's a shock. You can't find a better person than this guy here. Like I said, he'd give the shirt off his back to help you out," said the victim's co-worker Robley Moreau.

Moreau was sent to McMillian's house after he didn't show up for work this morning and what he found was an arson scene and bad news. His co-worker was not only dead but had been shot and someone intentionally set the house on fire.

"About 10:15pm last night when the fire truck pulled up in the cul-de-sac here, you know how noisy they can be, and we looked out and there was a fire blazing," said neighbor Toni Baslangic. Baslangic soon realized something was wrong.

"Is he Ok? Is he OK? You could see that the fire was in the back of his bedroom," she said.

Once the fire was out, firefighters discovered the homeowner shot dead. Many of the neighbors that talked to Eyewitness News say they are puzzled. They say McMillian had just married and was selling the house to be with his new wife in Georgia.

Baslangic had just come over to the home on Sunday for an open house.

"There was just a couch, a TV. He had a bed in his room and there was a dresser in another room, so it was totally empty," said Balsangic.

What happened today just didn't fit with the man that Moreau.

"He never missed work. He was driver of the month. He did his job really well. I can't say a bad thing about him."

Investigators are talking to family members trying to figure out exactly what happened.
