Wild chase ends with woman being shot

HOUSTON The chase started in a neighborhood on the southeast side, and ended when she crashed her car off the Gulf Freeway. It was around 9pm when officers pulled over the driver of a stolen SUV in the area of Renshaw near Brock.

The man in the passenger seat ran off, while the woman driving the vehicle allegedly tried to run down the officers. The cops used a Taser to stop her and shot her in the elbow, but she still kept driving, nearly hitting one officer.

"She knocked over a fence. She was turned around, managed to turn the vehicle around in the driveway and nearly pinned one of the officers against the fence," said Lt. Kevin Gallier with the Houston Police Department.

The woman kept driving and ended up on the Gulf Freeway. She then drove the wrong way down the northbound feeder road near Griggs and hit at least two cars.

Authorities say she then jumped out of the SUV in the middle of the freeway and ran. It took another shock from a Taser before she finally collapsed and was arrested. She was thrashing around in an ambulance before she was transported to the hospital.

No one else was hurt, but the main lanes of the Gulf Freeway were closed for a few hours overnight. As far as the man who was with the woman. He is still on the run.

All lanes have since reopened.
