Foster parent blinded toddler

WACO, TX A relative of the child says the injury resulted in the now-3-year-old girl being left blind. Matthew Lewis Anderson, 51, pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree felony injury to a child, with serious bodily injury, over the April 2 incident.

The girl had been removed from her parents in Bosque County. Her grandmother, in a victim impact statement, testified the child is now blind as a result of her injuries. The name of the child was not released.

Defense attorney Rob Swanton says Anderson is devastated by what happened to the girl and is "very remorseful."
