HISD reaches out to group opposing bond

Today, HISD leaders plan to extend an olive branch to those who have been opposing a bond passed back in November. The $805 million bond will be used to build 24 new schools and make repairs across the district. A group has a lawsuit pending against the district, claiming the bond discriminates against minorities.

Superintendent Abe Saavedra is expected to ask them to stop the litigation. He also plans to call on the attorney general to give HISD the go-head to start building.
