Pilot survives small plane crash

HOUSTON At about noon, the pilot made a hard landing in a field near a wooded area south of Hooks Airport. It's about 350 yards away from a baseball field where emergency crews initially thought the plane might have landed.

The prop and front end suffered damage, the wings buckled and the landing gear collapsed. It's unknown what caused the pilot to have to put the plane down in the field. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.

The pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was the only one on board. No one else was injured.
