Firefighters and rescue crews were called to the scene. One firefighter went down into the shaft to reach the injured person. After nearly an hour and a half, the victim was brought to the surface. He was reportedly semi-conscious at the time.
Life Flight transported the 24-year-old man to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.
