Worker rescued after fall

Firefighters rescued a worker who became trapped in a shaft in southeast Houston.Shortly after 11am, a man fell about 20 feet down a shaft at a construction site. It is a lift station for sewer pumps to service a new subdivision. The station is located on Ramla Place near Beamer.

Firefighters and rescue crews were called to the scene. One firefighter went down into the shaft to reach the injured person. After nearly an hour and a half, the victim was brought to the surface. He was reportedly semi-conscious at the time.

Life Flight transported the 24-year-old man to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.
