Street racing blamed for serious wreck

HOUSTON (KTRK) Officers say the drivers of a white car and a minivan were racing along East Hardy Saturday night, when the minivan driver tried to go around a pickup truck. The driver of the minivan suddenly lost control, and hit the front of the truck.

The minivan then went up a curb, hit a gas meter, and slammed into a tree. Emergency crews managed to turn off the gas.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt. He says he's glad his truck did not receive much damage.

The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital. The car racing the minivan left the scene of the accident.
