Man falls into Rice U trench

HOUSTON (KTRK) The man was walking along the ten foot trench at a construction site in Rice University this morning. He slipped in the mud and fell into the hole. Firefighters found their rescue equipment wasn't very helpful at the scene.

"Because of where the construction site's located it was hard to get apparatus back there," said Richard Cole of the Houston Fire Department. "So we we're having to use basic rope techniques up a ground ladder in order to extricate him from the hole."

It took about 20 minutes to rescue the man. He suffered minor injuries.
