An 11-year-old boy did exactly what he should when he was approached by a stranger in Richmond last week.At about 8:15am last Thursday, the boy was running to catch the school bus at the intersection of Spanish Forest Lane and Old South Road in the Pecan Grove subdivision. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's department, a small two-door silver passenger car with a black convertible top pulled alongside the boy. The driver opened the passenger door and offered the child a ride to school.

The boy refused the offer. The driver then offered to give him a ride to the next bus stop. The child took off and returned home and the suspect fled the area.

The suspect is described as a male having dark curly hair, a mustache, a dark complexion. He spoke with an accent.

Eyewitness News has learned a witness has come forward, and it's possible the situation was a misunderstanding.

Detectives are asking members of the Pecan Grove Community or anyone who may have information about the suspect or the car to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477) or the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office at 281-341-4665.
