'Bandit sign' crackdown on roadways

HOUSTON (KTRK) A new state law allows the county to sue companies placing signs along public rights of way. Officials call them 'bandit signs', and say they're everywhere.

The county filed suit against Espree Homes and Royce Builders for several bandit signs placed in northwest Harris County.

"It's definitely an eyesore and it's a problem for traffic," said Harris County Assistant attorney Rachel Boates. "It's a problem for all drivers and it's a problem especially in the suburbs."

The home builders did not return our call for comment.
