Man seriously injured in house fire

A man was hurt in an overnight house fire in north Houston. Investigators say the flames started in the back of the home on Westfield at Foyce. When crews arrived, they found the man in the driveway. He had serious burns.

Fire District Chief Tommy Dowdy said, "The ambulance got here, picked the victim up and took him to Hermann Hospital. He had some pretty heavy second degree burns and possibly some respiratory problems."

There's no word on the man's condition. Witnesses tell firefighters that the man was in the back of the house before the fire started.

We're told several people were inside the home, but they managed to escape. There's no word on a cause.
