Astros traffic

If you are headed into downtown Houston on Friday, watch for double delays on your evening drive.

The Astros take on the Yankees during the American League Championship Series Game 1. The first pitch is at 7:08 p.m. at Minute Maid Park.

Also on Friday evening, the Houston Rockets take on the San Antonio Spurs at the Toyota Center. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ALCS Game 2 is at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

If you are looking for downtown parking, pick your spot in advance. You can check Downtown Houston's interactive parking map that shows rates, hours and availability for garages and parking lots.

Just a reminder, downtown street parking is not free until after 6 p.m. HPD is warning drivers to be careful who they pay for parking in order to avoid a scam. Parking attendants for surface lots should be wearing a vest and a company ID/name tag.

For on-street parking, download the ParkHouston mobile app, to pay for your parking using your smartphone.

Using METRO

If you don't mind walking a couple of blocks, consider using METRO Rail's red, purple or green lines to central stations or METRO Greenlink.

Metro is recommending these Park and Ride Options for Light Rail riders:
- Fannin South Park and Ride
- Lindale Park Station at 218 Joyce
- Moody Park Station at 3725 Fulton
