DALLAS, Texas - Family members are staying positive as they search for a Dallas-area couple missing in the Bahamas.
Donna Grant and Forrest Sanco disappeared in late September on their honeymoon. According to a flight plan, the couple took off on Sept. 26 from North Eleuthera in their twin-engine Cessna with plans to head 120 miles to Rum Cay, but they never made it.
"Forrest is an engineer, Donna is a nurse. They had food and water on the plane as far as we know. They had flotation devices. That's given us hope that they're out there," said Erin Simmons, Grant's daughter-in-law.
A fisherman recently found a wheel floating in the water, and investigators say it matches the model of aircraft the couple was flying. They have not, however, been able to definitively link that wheel to their specific aircraft.
Family members say they are frustrated with a late start by local search crews but are trying to stay positive. They have hired a private plane to supplement local rescue efforts.
