Heights Snapchat shooting suspect has Thanksgiving appearance before judge
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The suspect arrested in a shooting in the Heights that was posted on Snapchat has a Thanksgiving date in a courtroom.
Edwin Ospino, 22, was arrested after a tip was submitted to Crime Stoppers. Ospino has been known to law enforcement before, according to records. He has been charged with felony deadly conduct.
Ospino is due in probable cause court at 10 a.m.
Until last week, Ospino was a regular at Cottage Grove Park's basketball court.
"He's a great basketball player and very athletic," said Dylan Collins.
In a video posted on Snapchat, you can see the suspect firing a gun.
Neighbor said they were nervous that the shooter could be walking down the street where families live.
Ospino had three arrests, including convictions for theft and resisting arrest in the past two years. If convicted of a felony, the punishment could be more serious.
"He just wishes he could go back in time and change all this. If he'd known all this would happen, he said he would've gone to a gun range and shot it legally," said Collins.
Houston police and Crime Stoppers were offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
