Dog shot and killed at park
A day at the park turned deadly for one dog in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A person shot a dog at the Bay Area dog park today, authorities say.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened on 7500 block of East Bay Area Boulevard.

Some eyewitnesses are saying through social media two dogs got into a fight when a man pulled a gun and shot the dog. We're waiting for deputies to confirm more but the nice weather brought a lot of people and their dogs to the park this afternoon.

"I find it interesting someone would bring violence to a place where it's known to be a carefree environment where people can let their hair down and their dogs can as well," said dog owner JJ.

"It makes me feel a little scared and worried. My dogs aren't aggressive at all but it makes me think you don't need to bring a gun to the dog park. C'mon now," said dog owner Kaitlyn Kirby.

Most of the visitors here say the incident won't discourage them from coming back here
