HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two Houston moms have created a workout so that they can take their babies along.

Their Urban Mom Boot Camps started with the purpose of getting back in shape. What they learned is their bonding time is just as important as calorie burning time.

Kelly Davidson and Nancy Mathe spent years working in the fitness industry, often teaching pre and post natal clients.

"When Nancy and I had our babies, we realized how challenging it was to leave our house, work out on our own, and for working moms, you don't want to leave your baby anyway for one or two hours," Davidson said.

Mathe had an added challenge, as she dealt with postpartum depression.

"When you have postpartum depression, just making that first step felt like a huge milestone, and I was so glad I did it," Mathe said.

She and Davidson gave birth around the same time, so they chose to make exercising with their babies an excuse to get out of the house. Mathe says soon after working out, she felt like her old self and both women were able to shed the

baby weight.

"It empowered me to really work harder on this and to be an advocate to moms who I can see suffering," Mathe said.

The Urban Moms Bootcamp grew into a place that women, as well as dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents can work out each week.

"It's just a nice way to get out of the house and normal routine," said participant Kevin Fogarty. Forgarty is the proud uncle of a baby in the class.
